Jello Colors

Jello - I can't say the word Jello without thinking "J-E-L-L-O" Sometimes kids have a difficult time learning their colors. The more senses you use while teaching a new concept the better. Try painting with Jello. I chose flavors which were the primary and secondary colors. Red=Strawberry, Blue=Blueberry, Yellow=Lemon, Green= Lime, Purple=Grape, and Orange=Orange. Then I printed out pictures on a half sheet of card stock paper. Either you can paint the pictures or the child can paint the pictures. Jello does stain so make sure the child is wearing appropriate clothing. Pour a small amount of Jello into a bowl stir in a bit of water. You want the Jello to remain thick and clumpy. If you add too much water, add more Jello (let's face it this is not science) Then using a paint brush paint the pictures. Later when you practice the color words the pictures will have texture and they will smell for several days to weeks depending on the Jello flavor.
